COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Fundamentals of Maya takes students from the basic understandings of Maya all the way to tips and tricks that can save the day.  This workshop is structured and aimed at teaching a solid foundation of Maya as well as a basic animation workflow within Autodesk Maya. Maya is perfect for those who are interested in learning Maya or just taking their Maya skills to the next level.

The goal of the Fundamentals of Maya Workshop is to is to familiarize and strengthen students’ abilities with the overall tools, workspace,
and workflows that take place while using Autodesk Maya. The class will teach students how to make their animation
more about animating and less about dealing with frustrations of Autodesk Maya as well.

  • Animation Layers

  • Graph editor

  • Graph editor tips and tools

  • Proper Constraint

  • Techniques

  • Reference editing / retime

  • Proper Playblasting

PREREQUISITE:

The desire to learn Maya, and animation. A laptop with Maya or a home computer with Maya.

Fundamentals of Maya is limited to 8 students to allow for maximum individualized focus. We encourage a comfortable, collaborative environment so that students can learn from their own assignments, the critiques of others’, instructor demos, lectures, and guest speakers.
