COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Introduction to Visual Storytelling will simulate life as a professional story artist. We will study the grammar of the film language and expand your visual narrative toolbox.
The goal of Introduction to Visual Storytelling includes storyboarding from script pages, storyboarding from experience, explorational story development sketches, and pitching to the class.
CURRICULUM:
- Character Study
- Composition Study
- Character-Driven Dialogue Sequence (15-30 boards, two week assignment)
- Action Sequence (15-30 boards, two week assignment)
- Exploration Sketches
- Personal Story (15-30 boards, two week assignment)
- Student’s Choice (15-30 boards, two week assignment)
PREREQUISITE:
No prerequisite is required, though Story: Fundamentals of Story is highly recommended.
*Introduction to Visual Storytelling is limited to 10 students to allow for maximum individualized focus. We encourage a comfortable, collaborative environment so that students can learn from their own assignments, the critiques of others’, instructor demos, lectures, and guest speakers.
